The festive atmosphere of Christmas is permeating Italian cities. It has also reached Asti, home for the third consecutive year of its own Christmas Market.
Today in-italy.eu will take you on a tour of the only Italian Christmas market in the top 10 best Christmas markets in Europe.
Asti Christmas Market
From Nov. 11 to Dec. 17, 2023, the Asti Christmas market awaits you in the city’s old town, which will host:
- 130 little Christmas houses where you can admire handicrafts and food and wine specialties
- The Jewels of the Territory
- A 35-meter Ferris wheel
- An ice skating rink
- A guided tour with the elf
Little Christmas houses
Alfieri Square, in the city center, is home to a whopping 130 little wooden houses. Music, lights, decorations, 3D animations and scents will transport you to an enchanted world more than just a Christmas atmosphere.
Crafts made by artisans from all over Italy will be on display on the stalls, which you can buy to make a special gift.
You will also have the opportunity to take a break and taste dishes in special street food booths.
And you will be spoiled for choice: from traditional to more modern dishes, from Piedmontese dishes to those from other parts of the country, everyone’s taste will be satisfied.
If you are in the mood for savory, options include the lampredotto sandwich, braised beef or pork sandwich, or braised beef with mashed potatoes on a plate.
The average price of the sandwiches is 10.00€, while for the braised beef is 12.00€.
In case you have a preference for dessert, the offer includes crepes, pancakes, puff pastries, strudel, and hot chocolate. In addition, you can sip a good mulled wine.
The Jewels of the Territory
In San Secondo Square, you can admire the so-called “Jewels of the Territory,” truffles and other specialties of the city, in a number of small houses of local producers and in a special facility, the “PalaTartufo.”
You will also have the opportunity to taste local dishes and wines. The Jewels will be on display until December 23.
Ferris wheel
An important new feature this year is the spectacular and impressive 35-meter Ferris wheel. A gala show “It’s Magic Hour-Part Two” will be held on Dec. 8, featuring the Sunshine Gospel Choir, consisting of 40 voices, and some artists from the TV show Zelig.
Cost: 8€ per person
VIP cabin: 80€
The ice rink
A perfect family attraction, suitable for even the youngest children. In the checkout area they will allow you to rent skates. And those who are inexperienced in ice skating can choose penguins or twin-blade skates to gain more confidence.
The guided tour with the elf
At 11 a.m. every Sunday, the Elf Guide will take you on a tour of Asti’s old town and its characteristic monuments.
Cost: €9.00 adults, €5.00 reduced 7-11 years old, free under 7 years old.

Part of the parking lot is sometimes used for the market, but eventually you will not struggle to find space elsewhere.
From there, the markets are within easy walking distance.
As you walk through the old town of Asti, a Christmas elf will point you in the direction to reach the markets.
