Great satisfaction for Michelin-starred chef Gennaro Esposito and all citizens of Vico Equense: Vico Equense, in the province of Naples, is officially a candidate to become a ‘Creative City for Gastronomy’ on behalf of Unesco.

The city on the Sorrento Peninsula only lacks the permission from Paris to consecrate it for its uniqueness.

“Here we have boasted a great tradition of cheese-making for centuries; here pizza has taken on its elongated shape, the famous pizza al metro, now widespread a little throughout the peninsula; here the products of the sea, the land, the mountains come together in a unicum of flavours, colours and fragrances. This land has the merit of inspiring old and young generations of chefs. It is a beautiful land and happy in terms of food, thanks to unique products, excellent cuisine, even home cooking, and the Mediterranean sea that has always welcomed people and cultures.

These are the words full of pride of Gennaro Esposito.

Among the many excellences that underline the outstanding result achieved by Vico Equense, we also find cooks Peppe Guida and Antonino Cannavacciuolo, expressions of the territory.

“I am happy for this news,’ Cannavacciuolo said, ‘because it shows everyone the beauty and strength of this land that I love and has forged me. In Vico Equense, you can breathe the magic of the encounter between sea and land.”

We hope that as soon as possible, we can toast this further success for the Sorrento Peninsula.
